Surfers of Muizenberg - Vol. 1

Surfing is an integral part of the fabric at my home beach, Muizenberg. For more than 100 years people have been riding the gentle waves that roll into this somewhat legendary strip of coastline.

Surfer at Muizenberg. Brendon Bosworth. 2020.

On most days you’ll see a variety of board riders down at the beach — from beginners kitted out with rental equipment from the numerous surf schools that dot the beach, to stalwarts on longboards who’ve been paddling into the lineup for decades. Young and old; experienced and not — the beach is a playground for an eclectic mix of waveriders.

I’ve been photographing the beachfront for the past three years. In that time I’ve built up a collection of photographs of surfers. I’ve put together some of these in a short video available at my IGTV channel (click on button above above). I’ll add to this collection as I continue to photograph at the beach, so please keep an eye out for Vol. 2 :).
